Penguin Press Week 5: Start of Session 2 and Getting Ready for All-City Week

Hello Parkcrest Families!

Welcome to the second half of summer as Session 1 ends Friday, July 9 and Session 2 starts Monday, July 12!

Here is some other news for Week 5:

A. All City Week July 26-30

It’s hard to believe, but All-City Week is just over two short weeks away, and that means a VERY busy time for our pool. We will be hosting one day of the All-City Dive meet on Tuesday, July 27, and Parkcrest will be closed from Monday evening until Wednesday morning. A reminder that there will be NO LESSONS (morning or night) for the week of July 26 thru the 30th. Please see the note below from Dive Parent Rep Anne-Marie Bell:

All City Dive 2021 is coming to Parkcrest!

After cancelling in 2020 for health and safety reasons, the All City Swim and Dive league was excited to be able to offer programming to over 2,200 young athletes in the league. Unfortunately, the planned hosts for the Swim and Dive meets were unable to host in 2021. With this news, the All City Board decided to collaborate to bring a Championship meet for both swim and dive in 2021. 8 pools in the league will be hosting some portion of a meet, and Parkcrest is excited to welcome Day Two (10 and unders, 15-18s, and Senior Recognition) of the All-City Dive meet on Tuesday July 27, 2021.

The pool will close at 8 pm on Monday July 26th and reopen at 6 am on Wednesday July 28th for regular programming. The tennis courts and basketball court will also be closed from 6 am Tuesday July 27 until Wednesday 6 am. Parkcrest members will have reciprocity rights at other pools in the league during that time. Details to follow and open swim hours at other pools will vary, but you will have a place to swim Tuesday if interested.

This effort is truly collaborative with pool representatives working quickly to pull together these large events. All fundraising, apparel income, and fees will go towards covering costs at ALL pools. Any excess revenue will be divided among hosting pools, which means Parkcrest can benefit financially. Our dive team is small but mighty, but because this effort benefits the entire pool membership, the Parkcrest Board of Directors will be opening up volunteer opportunities to the entire membership. For those who remember hosting All City Swim, one day of the dive meet does not require the efforts of all members, but we hope many of you will consider helping out in some way. SignUpGenius to come soon.

Related: if any member has a Windows laptop that is going unused, Parkcrest Dive would be interested in a donation. Please contact Anne Marie Bell at [email protected] with any possibilities.

B. Adult Social

Parkcrest’s Silent Auction Adult Social is coming up fast, on Saturday July 17 from 7-11:30 PM! We are still in search of potential party hosts and/or donations for the auction. Please contact Chandra at [email protected] if you have donations or would like to help!

C. Tween Night

Parkcrest’s Hawaiian Party has been rescheduled to next Tuesday, July 13 from 7-10 PM. All Parkcrest members aged 11 and to 18 are welcome to use the pool for pizza, games, and fun! Please see the attached flyer for details. RSVPs will be helpful to determine how much pizza to get!
