Penguin Press Week 3: Fourth of July and Adult Social!

A. Upcoming Events

  • Dive Meet vs High Point, July 1: Our Parkcrest Penguins will be having their first home dive meet against the High Point Pirates on Thursday, July 1 at 5 PM. All lessons and open swim will continue as normal, but the diving well will be closed to host this event. We ask that all parents and their children remain respectfully quiet as athletes are performing their dives.
  • Big Penguin/Little Penguin, July 6: Swim Team’s second Penguin Buddy night of the summer will take place at the diving well and basketball courts from 6:15 to 7:30 PM.
  • Swim Meet vs West Side, July 10: Parkcrest will open for open swim either at 1:00 PM or 45 minutes after the conclusion of the meet.
  • Tween Night, Take II: Tween Night will be rescheduled for Thursday, July 15, from 7-10 PM. The pool will close after night lessons at 6:30 PM for the rescheduled event.

B. Fourth of July Hours and Immunocompromised Swim

Fourth of July Pool Hours: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Due to the adjusted hours for the Fourth of July, this week’s Immunocompromised Swim will take place from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 3 instead of the Sunday. The pool will be open to general membership for open swim at 1:00 PM that day.

C. Adult Social Kickoff

If you were not able to attend Trivia Night last weekend—fear not! Parkcrest is bringing you another adult social event to get to know your fellow Penguins. The Silent Auction is another fun-filled fundraising night with games, drinks, and fun, and we need your help! Please see the note from the social committee below:

Parkcrest is known for our spirited and tight-knit community. One way we foster this sense of belonging is by hosting fun and unique gatherings throughout the year.

At our Adult Social on SATURDAY, JULY 17, you will be able purchase your spots to attend these parties. This is another great way to support our pool and contribute to our second big fundraising event of the year.

Are you interested in donating to the pool by volunteering to host a party of your own? Whether it’s a wine tasting, a taco night, a craft afternoon for kiddos, a cookout at your cabin, or a pampering spa afternoon – we would love to hear your ideas! You can tailor the party to fit your own time and space constraints, budget, and interests. This event can also take place anytime during the year—we’ve had Christmas parties and Fall Fish Fry’s in the past! Plus, did we mention it’s a great way to meet other PC members?

Your enthusiasm and generosity mean so much to Parkcrest and its members. Please email Laura Bird at [email protected] if you’re interested in donating a party. The sky’s the limit!

D. Lessons

We are officially halfway through Session 1 of lessons! Just a reminder that we are unable to make any more adjustments or changes to class rosters for the remainder of Session 1…but Session 2 signups are coming up! We will open Session 2 signups on Thursday, July 8 at 6:00 PM. The Session 2 schedule will be released sometime this week. Session 2 lessons start on Monday, July 12.

Also, a reminder that this week is a “Monday/Wednesday” week—all Monday/Wednesday classes will meet this Friday, July 2.

Another note: After hearing your feedback, we plan on offering Adult Lessons during the evening lesson period for Session 2! Space will be limited, so please keep an eye out for those class signups!
