Dear Parkcrest Members,
Here it is! The official release of information for Parkcrest, 2017! Please go to www.parkcrestpool.com for all the updated information including swim/dive team, lessons, water ballet and social events and a calendar for the season.
50th Anniversary Membership Drive. In 2018, Parkcrest Pool will celebrate our 50th anniversary. To kick off festivities early, we are initiating a two-year membership drive with:
- First Year New Member Rates: $449 Full Family.
- Lower Annual Membership Dues: Full Family $699 with stock, $799 without
Let’s all talk up the pool and encourage friends and neighbors to join the effort to add 50 memberships prior to Parkcrest’s 2018 50th anniversary!
The full 2017 Membership options are attached to this letter. All dues are to be paid by May 15, 2017 to avoid the late fee, and must be paid before you can register for lessons or participate in pool activities. If dues are paid by May 1, you will also receive five free guest passes.
Online Registration, Payment & Sign-ups. We again will be using online registration for membership, swim & dive team, water ballet and lesson sign-up. Payment can be made online as well. The system should be up and running by April 1st. If you want to avoid the $25 credit card fee for online payment, you can still register online then send your check through the mail to the address at the top of this letter. If you choose this option, it is helpful to also send your completed registration form with the check. Checks should be made payable to Parkcrest Swim and Tennis Club, Inc.

Molly Anderson will be our head manager this summer. She is putting together a great staff and getting the pool ready to make this another fantastic summer.
Volunteers needed. The pool will open for the summer on Saturday, May 27 th . Before we open, your help is appreciated. Parkcrest is going to have two volunteer days for members to assist us in getting the pool ready for opening. The dates are Saturday, May 6th and Saturday, May 13th, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. If neither of these dates/times work for you, please contact Teresa Schutz at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an alternative time or to help out. Your family will receive up to 5 free guest passes if you help prior to opening day.
Although our management and staff run the day-to-day operation, much of the planning, organization and longer-term decision-making for the pool are performed by member-volunteers. Please consider volunteering at events or for day-to-day small tasks, we can always use more help. Swim and dive team families have a volunteer requirement at meets so please review all of the team forms to be aware of volunteer expectations.
All-activities sign-up, Sunday, June 4 th Noon – 1:00pm. Although swim and tennis lesson signup can be done online, we still have in person sign-up where staff can assist in selecting the appropriate level of lessons and answer any remaining questions regarding lessons, water ballet and swim/dive teams.
The first session of lessons starts on Monday, June 12th and concludes on Friday, July 7th . The second session runs from July 10th through August 11th . Further information on the various programs is available on the website.
Member Orientation, Sunday, June 4th, 1:30 pm. Following Activities Sign-up, we will hold a member orientation session for anyone interested. Come have all of your Parkcrest questions answered.
Financially, 2016 resulted in near break-even cash flow (before incremental borrowing) and positive cash flow of approximately $18,000 after. We replaced two heaters and related equipment ($19,000) funded partially with the last of our All-City proceeds and partially with the incremental borrowing from when we refinanced our Mortgage (November 2015). As of March 2017, our mortgage is $301,235 at 4.39% and is due in November 2020. For 2017, we have approved a budget focused on membership growth and retention. Remember too that hours contributed by volunteers help with cost controls. Thank you in advance for continuing this Parkcrest pride. Anticipated capital spending in 2017 includes a more efficient water softener ($3,000-$4,000) and repairing the tennis court surface ($1,800). More detailed financial information is available at your request. Contact Dave Gillman, our Treasurer at 238-5797.
Feel free to contact any Board member if you have questions. Board members (and their phone numbers) are identified in the program materials. By calling 233-3573, you can find out the status of swim/dive team practice, lessons or leave a message for our membership coordinator, Peter Olson. We will have announcements on the website, as well as on our Facebook page and by following the pool on Twitter. If you know of someone who is looking to become a member or if you wish to sell your stock, you should leave a message for Peter Olson by calling the pool number.
Finally, on behalf of the Board, thank you to all of our great members, especially those who have volunteered their time to make Parkcrest the best neighborhood pool in Madison.
